Pressed Juicery quickly became one of my obsessions before even taking a sip thanks to Instagram. Half way into my contract in Oakland, I had found myself bloated, sluggish and totally out of shape thanks to all the fried food I stuffed my happy face with.
Somehow I convinced my husband to not only buy this 130 dollar cleanse, but he wanted to do it with me! Yay!
Little did I know, I needed his support through the next three days. The mind is so powerful! 72 hours of drinking juice and my mind had me CRAZY as if I hadn’t chewed food for an eternity. But I was desperate to feel better and I wanted to reset my body so that I could feel better overall. I had tried a tea cleanse years ago that did nothing for me besides regulate my bowels. I wanted more out of this cleanse so I went with a popular yet wholesome brand that I felt confident in.

How the Cleanse Works
“If you follow our lead, stay hydrated, and give yourself time to rest and relax, our cleanse will give your digestive system a much deserved break while simultaneously feeding your body the nutrients it needs.” – Pressed Juicery
Adding healthy, nutrient dense juice to your diet is a way of boosting nutrition and getting back to healthy basics. It is like a restart button.
Each bottle in your cleanse is clearly labeled in the order you should drink it, starting with juice #1 when you wake up and ending with juice #6 at least two hours before bedtime. It was recommended on their site to drink a juice every two hours which worked great for me.
Here’s the awesome part about ordering at a Pressed Juicery in person. You have the option to taste each juice before you purchase it. Although there is a recommended package of juices for the 3-day cleanse, you are free to swap out any juice if there is one that does not suit your taste buds.
If you are new to cleansing, Cleanse 1 is the juice cleanse for you. It’s is the only cleanse out of the 3 that contain a double dose of the almond signature blends which are rich in protein and complex carbohydrates. Considering this was my first real cleanse, I chose Cleanse 1 which is for us beginners out there. Can I get a what what? AKA I also needed more calories since I eat like a teenage boy.
The 3-Day cleanse consists of 18 juices (6- 16 oz juices per day). The juices I chose were:
- #1 Greens 2 (kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon)
- #2 Citrus 2 (pineapple, apple, lemon, mint)
- #3 Greens 3 (kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon, ginger)
- #4 Roots 2 (carrot, kale, romaine, spinach, parsley, apple, ginger)
- #5 Chocolate Almond (almonds, dates, cacao, sea salt)
- #6 Vanilla Almond (almonds, dates, vanilla bean, sea salt)
The cleanse also comes with aloe vera and chlorophyll cleanse waters which I honestly had a hard time with. One of my biggest health challenges is getting an adequate water intake on a daily basis so I was barely able to get the 6 juices I was supposed to drink down, let alone two extra waters. However, they were really good- but I technically had them over a 6 day period (oops).
The chlorophyll water has tons of benefits but the biggest one being that it helps keep you full while the aloe has soothing effects on the bowels.
Preparation is Key
Potential side effects of cleanses include headaches and exhaustion but with the right prep, the chances are the only symptom you will have is the urge to chew food. Pressed Juicery recommends cutting out processed sugars, meat, dairy, caffeine and alcohol to have the best outcomes. Luckily, I did not have too many changes to make besides cutting out wine and a shit ton of fries.
Take the best care of yourself! Especially in this fragile time…ha ha. Here are some tips to consider during a cleanse:
- Drink at least eight glasses of water per day. (I epically failed at this)
- Get ample rest. (I got an A++++ in this category)
- Try a natural, herbal laxative such as sennakot if you are a little blocked up.
- Tone down your normal work-out routine to a daily walk or two.
- Consider a sauna or massage sesh.
- Take a daily probiotic.
- Take hot bubble baths.
As an aspiring food blogger and avid Instagram foodie, I had to log out of Instagram while on the cleanse because 98% of my feed is delicious food and the temptation was REAL. The first day was awesome. The juices were delicious and I looked forward to the next two hours so that I could try a new juice. I felt great the first day and went to bed exceptionally early that night.
The second day was a little rough. I woke up very excited to drink my first juice but then my body went into total crave mode. Honestly, it was worse than the PMS cravings! I was surprised at how fast the cravings kicked in considering it had only been ONE DAY. But I powered through a few headaches and made it to the end of the day.
On Day 3, I felt pretty good and got a second wind. I was able to do some light yoga and had no symptoms; however, I did have a few slices of cucumber because I totally cracked. How bad is a cucumber though, honestly? On Pressed Juicery’s site, it states that if you are not satiated with the juices- to try some warm tea, warm veggie broth, an apple or some cucumber.
After the cleanse I felt energized, slimmer and overall pretty great. To be honest, my jeans felt looser and I felt like I could run a marathon. Ok, maybe jog a 5K. You get the point.
As recommended, I eased my way back into eating whole foods and never had any issues. I would love to try this cleanse again someday when the tacos catch up to me and my gut again. If you want to know more about the nutritional aspects like protein intake and daily calories, head over to the Pressed Juicery site.
Remember, the cleanse is not just about weight loss. Especially Pressed Juicery juices. It’s all about da juice!
